Santa in a Swimsuit?

Summer's here (at least it feels like it!). That means two things: swimsuits and ice cream. And those two don't mix well (for me at least).

It seems like there's are always excuses for a sugary treat. For me lately, it's been dance recital and Memorial Day. Last weekend it was my wedding anniversary. Then it'll be my birthday. And family birthdays. Fourth of July. Back to school. Heck, it's Thursday, let's party!

But the swimsuit always tells on us. Sort of like Santa Claus (it knows if you've been bad or good).

A lot of us worry more about what we look like on the outside that we do on the Inside. That's just the way we are. Like we say in the office, if your spine were in front, you'd probably take better care of it.

So, today's tip will cover both areas. It'll help you shed fat so you look better on the outside. And help you lower your triglycerides, to help prevent heart disease and diabetes, among other things, and keep you working better on the Inside.

Your Start to Summer Look Good/Feel Good Tip:

Eat more fish oil.

Why?

In a recent study, published in the medical journal Diabetes, healthy male subjects were put on a high-fructose diet for six days. At the end of the six days, the subjects' triglyceride levels had nearly doubled.

But when researchers gave them fish oil in addition to the high-fructose diet, the triglycerides still went up, but only half as much.

Another study, published in the University of Missouri's Journal of Exercise Physiology, shows that taking fish oil before each meal significantly increases fat burning during exercise - and leads to greater weight loss.

So, how much fish oil does the trick? Study participants took eight fish oil capsules throughout the day (4 grams total). Each capsule had 300 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA, the active fatty acids in fish oil.
